I was craving for curried eats while in the South Victoria area. I remembered Sweet Chile Cafe from their catering of Brunei National Day at MSBCA .
Located near Fraser & 49th, this eating house is good value for money and there is usually an empty seat with your name on it.
5438 Victoria Drive. Easy to find and lots of parking around.
$11.95 for good Indonesian food is a bargain.
The proprietor obviously loves her position and treats her customers like gold.
Approach the warm trays and dig in! Don't forget the sweet chile :)
I dug into the Gado-gado. It is a Malaysian salad with a very unique taste & one that I like.
Come back for main course of Mee Goreng and Black Sauce Chicken. I tried a little noodles which are pretty good by the way. The chicken is scrumptious, delivering a pleasant black-sauce flavor! Mmm Hmm.
Close-up of the Black Sauce Chicken.
Three things that should always be seen together: Eggplant w/ long beans in a concoction of garlicky shrimp paste(belacan). Beef Rendang (good quality by the way - compared to several other Malay eating houses around town). Boiled eggs in delicious red sauce 'Acur Telur'. The thick sambal-like gravy is sweet, sourish and spicy
As usual from a buffet I am too full for dessert, but never too full :) The Bobochacha on the left is always a good dessert & one of the standard Chinese desserts on the right: Black Rice Pudding. Again good.
Long live Sweet Chile Indonesian Cafe!
