Angkor Wat
Posted on 02/05/2010
Angkor Wat is the ruins of an ancient city and temple. Angkor Wat is Cambodia's most famous tourist attraction and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Getting into the site involves stopping at the ticketing center for a pass - $20/day - and receiving a day pass receipt.
Located near Siem Reap, Angkor Wat is a beautiful spot to see sunrise. The sun rises behind three terrace platforms that are so well known they appear on Cambodia's national flag. I arrived in time for sunset on the first evening in Siem Reap and I got up super-early at 4:30am to catch sunrise at 6:00 the next morning. I also caught Angkor Wat sunset on my second and last evening in Siem Reap.
