Part of our pre-arranged travel itinerary in Myanmar was to take a passenger boat from Mandalay to Bagan, overnight in Bagan and the next evening fly to Yangon. Discovering Mandalay

Waking up to a Mandalay morning is almost as romantic as arriving in the middle of the night. We arrived from the train station at about one o' clock in the morning, yet still through tired eyes I was appreciating the architecture of Silver Swan Hotel and while waiting for Uncle D to have a hot shower, watched a bit of black-and-white movie on satellite television...
